The population boomed with job seekers keen to escape the dust-bowl states. These hopeful workers signed up for construction of the Boulder Dam. The new gambling laws brought in speculators and entrepreneurs, and entertainers soon joined the throng. Showgirls, magicians, singers and dancers auditioned for work in Las Vegas, thus creating a city with a wide cultural diversity.

Get married in Las Vegas. The simplest ceremony, performed by the Las Vegas Marriage Commissioner, only takes half an hour and will cost about $50. In addition to the numerous independent wedding chapels, most casinos and hotels contain grander, more elegant chapels. There really is something to suit all tastes; you can even choose an Elvis or Star Trek theme.
Feel as if you are in a Hollywood scene from a cowboy film when you go to Red Rock Canyon, just twenty miles away from Las Vegas.
When in Las Vegas, admire the Bellagio Fountains, a light and sound show coupled with the fountain display, taking place in front of the Bellagio Hotel and acceptable for all ages, or go to the heart of the Bellagio to see the exhibitions of the Gallery of Fine Art.
Admire the view from the Eiffel Tower Replica in Las Vegas. If the height is making you hungry, you can even dine in the restaurant in the tower.
